In 2008 Children's Camp will be held at Quaker Meadow Christian Camp. This camp is located in the Sequoia National Forest approximately 45 miles east of Porterville, nestled among majestic sequoia and fir trees.

Track I: 3rd, 4th, 5th graders

About Quaker Meadow

Since it's establishment in 1939 by Evangelical Friends, Quaker Meadow Christian Camp has had as its primary purpose the winning and training of youth and adults for Jesus Christ and His Church. Quaker Meadow is located at an elevation of 7,200 feet in the Sequoia National Forest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Southcentral California, approximately 45 miles east of Porterville. The Camp is nestled among majestic Giant Sequoias and has offered 60 years of the Christian camping experience for all ages.

The camp sits among 200 foot fir trees and a few Giant Sequoias. There are few places that compare to the natural setting of Quaker Meadow's tall firs, flowering meadows, crisp, clear starry nights and majestic Sequoias.

Summer Camp groups can be accommodated up to 300 people.

The Buzz refers to bees as in the Bible Bee for grades 3-5

Key Scriptures - Psalms 8 and 19

B is for Bible (Think of as many Bible words that start with Z as possible) – The Bible teaches us that God has a purpose for creation (Psalm 8 &19)

U is for Us – We are part of God’s plan.

Z is for Zenith – The point directly above us – God is the focus of all creation and every life even the way the north star or the north pole give direction

Z is for ZOO – Think about how all animals play a part in God’s creation. In the same way, all people play a part in God’s church.

Xianz is a Christian social networking site. I just set up a group on there for camp called, "The Buzz." Frankly, I have not learned the ropes yet. maybe the kids could teach us. Bat Houses

Are you aware how benficial bats are to the environment?

For one thing, they eat mosquitos which are sometimes a problem at camp (Brin g DEET).

One of the mission projects we are considering is building bat houses.

Larry was born in 1956, became a Christian in 1968 and was ordained in 1981. He grew up in Northern Kentucky, where he graduated #1 from his high school and later #1 from Campbellsville University. In addition to playing guitar, he lettered in Varsity Basketball and Tennis. After receiving a Masters of Divinity degree from Southern Seminary in 1980, Larry moved to San Diego to become the full-time youth pastor at the 1st Baptist Church of Poway. He served there until 1985, when Larry Bubb Ministries was formed. Since then, he has traveled full-time ministering to a wide variety of groups. Larry and his wife Kristen were married in November, 1992.

The BUZZ

1. Appoint a camp coordinator and a camp fund raiser.

2. Send us their phone number, address, and e-mail address.

3. Recommend potential staff members.

4. Enlist counselors and let us know who they are (phone, address, e-mail address) so that we can start training and communicating.

5. Connect all of these folks to http:campideas.blogspot.com .

6. Place posters around your church and especially in classrooms.

7. Print and distribute flyers.

8. “talk-up” camp at your church, preach in the t-shirt, and create a buzz.

9. Begn fund raising efforts.

10. Get a preliminary count of campers.

11. Get the registration forms from the Association or the web site and print/distribute.

12. Not last, nor least, pray for camp, for campers, for counselors, and for staff.

Where do you find children and youth for camp?

If they are not in your pews, they are most likely in your neighborhood. Rather than seeing camp as simply a wonderful activity for your own kids, wbhat about making it a dynamic and unforgetable outreach for your community?

Start now talking to families about camp. Make it a part of your neighborhood publicity pieces. open it to the community at large and recruit adults to serve as counselors. They will develop long term relationships which will produce long lasting results.
